it's not just about love. this series doesn't tell you about how someone met his/her future mother in law. well, actually that's what I thought when I saw the title for the first time. but apparently, it's not! it's about finding your true love and true friends. someone you may never imagine will be your true true true love, hahaha. it can be your neighbor, your boss, your old friend, your new friend or maybe it can be someone you don't know at all who suddenly show up in front of you one day. you don't know about that, I guess you'll never know about that. but the most important thing is, this series teach us how to appreciate the time you have with someone around you. you may not see them anymore, or you may end up with them forever. who knows, but THEY MUST BE MEAN SOMETHING FOR YOU.
there is a quote from Ted, when he tried to track down Robin's locket. here is the quote:
"Actually, there is a word for that. It’s love. I’m in love with her, okay? If you’re looking for the word that means caring about someone beyond all rationality and wanting them to have everything they want no matter how much it destroys you, it’s love. And when you love someone you just, you…you don’t stop, ever. Even when people roll their eyes, and call you crazy. Even then. Especially then. You just– you don’t give up. Because if I could just give up…if I could just, you know, take the whole world’s advice and– and move on and find someone else, that wouldn’t be love. That would be… that would be some other disposable thing that is not worth fighting for. But I– that is not what this is."
I'm totally sure that you can see how much Ted loves Robin from that quote. THAT'S THE TRUE LOVE IS! you don't care whether you have to jump over the cliff or even go around the world just to find something important that belongs to someone you love, YOU WILL DO IT. and you will do it with all your heart.
okay, so this series wasn't just tell us about how much Ted loves Robin, but also about how to let someone you love go. sometimes, separation is the best thing to do. even if it's hard, but I'm sure you will do it if that way can make her/him to be happier. but, fortunately, Ted's sacrifice does give him a beautiful ending. which remind me to the other quote:
"If we're destined to be together, even if our love fails now, we will have another chance"
And Ted does have another chance! six years after his wife passed away, his children asked him to confess his love to Robin again! that's his second chance to get his true love. and he used his second chance very well :)
well, I guess enough from me. I don't think I can find another series like this. it's so touching, funny, romantic at the same time! And I'll never forget the life lesson they thought me :'(
